The Importance of Technology in Selling Your Home
Changing and improving technology influences nearly every aspect of our lives, so it makes sense that it also affects the way homeowners and their agents market and sell homes. So what are the tools consumers and their agents should be using when trying to sell their home?
According to the National Association of REALTORS®, 95 percent of all homebuyers used the internet in their home search in 2016, as opposed to 2 percent in 1995. A home needs a strong, consistent online presence for it to be considered by the most potential buyers. Embracing a social media strategy and using channels like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest can place a listing in front of hundreds, even thousands, of potential buyers and usually costs nothing. It has also become important to consider smartphones when agents are creating a listing. More and more people are relying on their smartphones during a home search, so consumers will want to make sure that theirs shines on that small screen.
Review the National Association of REALTORS® 2016 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers for information on the tools most frequently used by sellers. Speak with someone at the local multiple listing service about what new technology or services they have implemented for home listings. Also, speak with a REALTOR® in your area about what tech tools they recommend when marketing homes.
